Blogging Code Conduct
Tim O'Reilly called for a Blogging Code of Conduct, after what happened to Kathy Sierra and make her cancel her ETECH presentation. The current draft seems to focus more on comments and commenters, but I think it will be great if it could be generalized to include blogger conduct also. The Blogger Code of Conduct aims to help creating a culture that encourages both personal expression and constructive conversation. From the first draft :
- We take responsibility for our own words and for the comments we allow on our blog.
- We won't say anything online that we wouldn't say in person.
- We connect privately before we respond publicly.
- When we believe someone is unfairly attacking another, we take action.
- We do not allow anonymous comments.
- We ignore the trolls.
Tim announced that the blogging code conduct will be available very soon at http://www.bloggingcode.org/. Be sure to check it and comment on it.
