Monetize your blog with a hosted job board

Recently I noticed that many known blogs started a job section, most notable are Gigaom, Techcrunch, 37signals. What I find interesting is that most of these blogs are technology oriented, of course very popular, but especially job posting price began from $200 per month, which is great if you can sell jobs posting on your blogs and create a new source of revenue. One of the key feature for six figure bloggers : diversify your sources of revenues.

If you want to implement a simple job board on your blog, here is some interesting solutions :

1- JobThread is a very easy way to implement a job board on your website, the hosted solution offer you a subdomain with your username for example phpmagazine.jobthread.com where you can set a price for job posting and recruiters can post jobs that will be displayed directly on the board. Great, simple and very easy to implement. It is possible also to make the jobs board part of your website and personalized with your own Design, CSS, logos and links such Salon Jobs board. JobThread offer a 50-50 Revenue Share which is good for a hosted service 100% ready to go.

2- JobCoin is another free hosted solution, with the same concept offering customizable widgets to add a job section on your own blog. You can have your own board like phpmagazine.jobcoin.com that you can configure with your logo, description, pricing and payment option (Paypal only), in addition to categories that you can reorganize according to your needs. JobCoin offer the possibility to create coupon codes, very helpful if you want to promote your board and offer special prices for new recruiters for example. JobCoin don't offer total customization of the board design, but it's already very nice looking, you can though add a Custom text to appear at the top of your job board. JobCoin have a better revenue share option which is 70-30, this will give you 70% of the revenue which is great in my opinion.

What is interesting in both solutions that they are adapted for bloggers and allow you to customize your price depending on your needs and offers the necessary tools and service to promote your board and make it successful. So if you are interested by setting up a new source of revenue, this is an interesting opportunity for your blog.

Also you have to know that this require some marketing work to attract companies and recruiters to your website, and what attract them will be certainly a good community of readers. If the hosted job board works for you, you might probably think about implementing your own board and grab 100% of the revenue.

At PHPMagazine.net for many reasons we are working on a more advanced IT jobs section, a new original concept to publish jobs on our network. This is the difference between single blogs and networks, while I think that the hosted solution is ideal for single blogs especially that it's faster to implement.

USuggest.com allow the bloggers to make some extra money through recommended products directly from within their blogs, and hopefully directing their readers to the some online retailers. As such, the respective blogger would receive a commission from any sales generated through referrals!
