Blog interface design made easy
LukeW have a very interesting article written by both Luke Wroblewski & Jed Wood about Blog Interface Design. The article came with very useful information and recommandation for blogger which cover different topics such Archives, Tags, Formats, Continuums, Comments, Filters, Conversational Flow ... etc.
Blogs have permeated just about every corner of human interest from arphids to zoology and continue to grow at a furious pace. Despite their popularity, many blogs suffer from interface design shortcomings. Unlike issues of spam and authority, these problems have relatively straightforward solutions that could considerably increase the utility of blog content.
Its nice to have a design clear, simple and readable especially. Luke is talking also about the Sparklines, which I still not understand why should I have it on my blog, since I never use it or find it useful. Sparkines plot the current post a reader is viewing, the previous posts it references, and the later posts that reference it. This paints a picture of where the current post originated (what ideas it draws from), and where it went (how those ideas evolved).
I know that a graphic is always better than a text to explain something, but this looks like a labyrinthe for me, and even more complicated than useful. I saw it on some blogs but I don't know if there is really people using this. Anyway I like so much the idea of rating in comments, since the comments could be an additional information on the main post, it will be interesting to have a certain rate to follow easily the discussion on posts with hundreds of comments.
