Testing Flock, the social browser

Last month we have announced Flock, the new firefox based browser for bloggers. A Social browser with many great features like blog posting, tagging, feed reading, flickr ... and many others. Yesterday I have downloaded and installed flock to test it the first time. The install file is about 7Mo, similar to firefox you won't be lost in browsing expect that buttons have been changed for a new browsing experience.

The new organization of icons is very interesting, the first icon next to the url is the favorite Star icon. You can add easily the current page to favorite, you can Star and Tag the current page, add to favorite all current tabs ... etc !

With Flock, blogging is a fully integrated part of the Web. Flock includes a blog editor that works with WordPress (and the new Wordpress.com hosted service), Movable Type and Typepad (and shortly also Live Journal), pLog and Blogger. Other blogging platforms have not been tested.

Example:

  1. Click the Blog icon (that looks like a feather pen).
  2. Set up your blog account (you can manage your accounts, including setting up additional blog accounts, from the Blogs section in your Flock Preferences).
  3. Create a simple blog post using our blog editor and click Publish.

I have tested the blog editor with pLog and it works fine. Also I have created a flickr account to easily drag and drop images from flickr to my posts. I'll try to use it more heavily in the next days, but until now the result looks to be very interesting.
