Does RSS draw more traffic to your Blog ?

James Torio posted about drawing traffic to your blog, one of the topics he asked about in his thesis. The question he asked was : What do you do to draw traffic to the Blog?

  • Offer an RSS feed ( 103 respondents )
  • Comment on other Blogs ( 52 )
  • Send out a subscription-based email ( 20 )
  • Nothing ( 20 )
  • Write good content ( 10 )
  • Advertise ( 9 )
  • Link exchange ( 5 )

I think that the question should be in two parts, there is two kind of traffic the regular one and the unregular. For example I found a blog from a search engine, I'm not interested hop I close the window and search again. Is this is called traffic ?

Traffic in my humble opinion is interesting for the regular readers only. Even if generally it's not necessary the main source of revenue from Ads ! So I think isn't the source of traffic but way you can keep it. The source of traffic is content in first place, then search engines and probably advertising, commenting, link exchange ...

So what is interesting to know is how to make "new traffic" in first place, then how to keep a "blog traffic" more regular.
